Na Virtual XI Harris i spółka pofolgowali swej futbolowej pasji. Wydanie „Jedenastki” zbiegło się z Mundialem we Francji - okazja była więc przednia. W książeczce obejrzeć można efektowne zdjęcia drużyny Iron Maiden, złożonej z muzyków i ich przyjaciół, a także... fotki znanych piłkarzy. Szkoda tylko, że skrywająca je okładka to graficzny kiks.

Kiedy dowiedziałem się, że ukazała się nowa płyta Iron Maiden, moje odczucia co do niej były dość dwuznaczne. Z jednej strony wiedziałem, że i tak ją kupię, bo jakżeby mogło być inaczej, ale cichutki głosik w głowie powtarzał: "A pamiętasz X factor, a pamiętasz X factor,...". Nie ukrywam bowiem, iż uważam tamtą płytę za najsłabszą w dorobku Ironów....

Nowa produkcja Iron Maiden była dla mnie na prawdę ciężkim orzechem do zgryzienia. Nie słyszałem (wiem, błąd!) "The X Factor", wiec "Virtual XI" było dla mnie właściwie (poza "Man on the Edge" i "Virus" ze składanki "Best of The Beast") pierwszym spotkaniem z Dziewicą "ery Bayleya". Problem zaś tkwi w tym, że z jednej strony nie chcę "skrzywdzić" tego...

Od razu po zakupieniu płyty, uwagę przykuwa okładka. Znowu ma godną właśnie Ironów aranżację plastyczą. Ale skupmy się na muzyce. Jest to druga płyta z Bayleyem na vocalu. Daje się to od razu odczuć. Inna skala głosu niż Dickinson, nie takie samo interpretowanie tekstu - słowem inny frontman. Jednak nie daje się to pogodzić ze starą manierą Ironów....
