Dwa ostatnie albumy The National ("Boxer" z 2007 roku i "High Violet" z 2010 roku) odbiły się szerokim echem i wprowadziły grupę z Cincinnati do grona współczesnych klasyków melancholii. Tym razem muzycy postanowili wpuścić do swoich piosenek więcej światła.

Szósty album amerykańskiego The National to niewątpliwie jedno z ciekawszych tegorocznych wydawnictw. Jak zawsze smutni, nieco posępni, targani emocjami, przesiąknięci nostalgią, samotnością i...szczerością raczą nas swym nowym dziełem ku uciesze - a może również - rozpaczy słuchaczy.

Od czego drodzy czytelnicy zaczynamy nowy rok? Pan w sweterku w serek się wyrywa do odpowiedzi. Tak? Od kaca. Też. Tyle, że nie o to chodzi. Pani w okularach spróbuje? Od postanowień noworocznych. Ogromny sukces High violet, trzy lata milczenia i w końcu zostajemy uraczeni dobrą płytą (płyta ukazała się 20 maja 2013). Ale czy uraczeni jest tu odpowiednim słowem? Po wielkim sukcesie, słuchacza zawsze dopadają wątpliwości, co będzie dalej? I dostajemy przyjemną płytę, jak to kiedyś powiedział wokalista rzeczonego zespołu – Matt Berninger tworzenie...
