Holenderski Within Temptation na najnowszej płycie "The Unforgiving" wykracza poza sztywne ramy gotyckiego rocka. Grupa przygotowała multimedialne dzieło, bowiem album ściśle powiązany jest z komiksem i filmem, których bohaterami są tytułowi "Nie znający wybaczenia" mściciele.

Kiedy posłuchałem "The Unforgiving" zaraz po premierze (czyli w marcu 2011), byłem w lekkim szoku. Spodziewałem się albumu w stylu "The Heart Of Everything", jednak po trzech latach przerwy zespół stwierdził, że należy zmodyfikować po raz kolejny klimat swojej muzyki i jeszcze bardziej ją unowocześnić. W efekcie "The Unforgiving" (będący concept albumem)...

Lider Within Temptation, Rober Westerholt, kilka dni przed długo wyczekiwaną premierą najnowszego krążka grupy, podsumował ich dzieło następującymi słowami: "To najlepszy album w naszej karierze". Within Temptation nigdy nie spieszył się z nagrywaniem nowych płyt, 3-4 letnie przerwy pomiędzy ich kolejnymi wydawnictwami to norma. Trzeba jednak przyznać, że taki system pracy wychodzi Holendrom na dobre, bo każdy materiał stoi na bardzo wysokim poziomie. "The Unforgiving" nie odstaje od tej reguły.

Niewątpliwe jest to, że muzyka tego holenderskiego zespołu się zmienia. Na swoich pierwszych płytach prezentowali ciekawe połączenie mistyki, baśni, gotyku i przepięknego żeńskiego wokalu Sharon Den Adel. Zwrot nastąpił w 2007 r., w momencie wydania ''The Heart of Everything''. Przyznam szczerze,że nie podobał mi się obrany przez nich nowy, bardziej...
