O tamtej EP-ce pisałem na początku lutego, że „sygnalizuje kilka kierunków, które mogą obrać Massive Attack” na nowym albumie. Właściwie to samo mogę stwierdzić, komentując „The Spoils”. Dwa premierowe nagrania zostały ze sobą zestawione na zasadzie kontrastu. W tytułowym utworze słyszymy kobiecy wokal Hope Sandoval, w „Come Near Me” – spoken word Ghostpoeta....
