Wydawnictwo The Purple Album zaprezentowane przez brytyjską grupę rockową Whitesnake na czele z Davidem Coverdalem jest po części dowodem na obecnie panujący kryzys w dawnej tak silnej branży muzyki rockowej. Zespół, którego symbolem są piękne, romantyczne ballady jak Is This Love i Here I Go Again miał największy okres świetności w latach osiemdziesiątych....

No i sobie Dawidek wymyślił. „A co tam, zagram se na nowo kawałki Purpli”. Jak postanowił, tak uczynił. Przesłanki jakimi się kierował (czyt. brak pomysłu na nową płytę, czy rzeczywista potrzeba zmierzenia się z kawałkami DP jego kadencji) są w tym momencie już bez znaczenia. Krążek się ukazał, mleko rozlałao, a czasu nie cofnie.

Po rozpadzie Deep Purple z Glennem Hughesem i Davidem Coverdalem obaj panowie zaczęli robić karierę na własny rachunek. Hughes angażował i dalej angażuje się w liczne projekty, a Coverdale założył kapelę Whitesnake, z którą udało mu się odnieść wielkie sukcesy komercyjne, wychodząc od purplowego hard rocka do jakże modnego w latach osiemdziesiątych...
