Przeszło pięćdziesiąt lat, czyli dwa pokolenia, to wystarczający czas, aby wszystko zdążyło się zestarzeć. Wszystko, tylko nie muzyka. Tak jest w przypadku debiutanckiego albumu Pink Floyd zatytułowanego „The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn”, który swoją premierę miał 5 sierpnia 1967 roku.

Zadziwiające, jak broni się ta płyta po latach. Brzmi (szczególnie jej monofoniczna, niestety już raczej niedostępna w sklepach wersja) niezwykle świeżo i porywająco. A najbardziej niewiarygodne jest chyba to, z jaką łatwością Syd Barrett tworzył te wszystkie kompozycje. Takie choćby, jak powstały zapewne w z narkotycznych wizji Lucifer Sam, najzwyczajniej...

W roku 1967 swoje pierwsze płyty wydało sporo rockowych megagwiazd - że wymienię tylko The Doors czy Jimiego Hendrixa. Również Pink Floyd, założony w 1965 roku przez trójkę studentów londyńskiej Regent Street Polytechnic - Watersa, Masona i Wrighta, zarejestrował swoją pierwszą płytę w tym niezwykłym dla muzyki roku.
