Utarło się, że to najmniej pinkfloydowa płyta, że to pierwszy solowy album Watersa (a przecież Waters solowy debiut zanotował w 1970 roku filmową płytą Music From The Body), że za dużo tu tekstów, że niewiele dzieje się, jeśli idzie o muzykę, że wymowa The Final Cut jest zbyt osobista, i tak dalej, i tak dalej. I… wszystko to właściwie prawda. Starego...

Piotr „Strzyż” Strzyżowski
“A Collection Of Great Dance Songs” był płytą zupełnie poboczną dla członków zespołu. Jedynie David nieco się zaangażował w jej powstawanie; Nick w tym czasie skupiał się na rodzinnych problemach, a Roger wspólnie z Alanem Parkerem przenosił na kinowy ekran treść albumu „The Wall”.

Powiedz mi prawdę, powiedz, dlaczego ukrzyżowano Jezusa..." - tymi słowami rozpoczyna się kolejny szczególny w dorobku Pink Floyd album. Nie jest to jednak bynajmniej dzieło zawierające religijne przesłanie. "The Final Cut" to gorzkie rozliczenie z powojenną Anglią i z faktem, że zaprzepaszczono szanse na pokój, otwierające się po zwycięstwie nad faszyzmem....
