Elton John należy do jednych z najbardziej lubianych i szanowanych wykonawców pokolenia, które swoje triumfy święciło na początku lat 70. Ma on rzadki dar tworzenia piosenek o uniwersalnym przesłaniu, akceptowalnych zarówno przez zwolenników popu, jak i rocka.

Ostatni solowy album Etona Johna ukazał się w 2006 roku. W międzyczasie artysta nagrał wspólny krążek z Leonem Russelem w 2010 roku, udzielał się na płytach innych artystów (zagrał m.in. w piosence tytułowej z albumu Black Gives Way To Blue Alice In Chains, wsparł również Fall Out Boy w utworze Save Rock And Roll) oraz kolejny już raz skomponował muzykę...
