Najdłuższy w karierze Iron Maiden album studyjny (92 minuty muzyki, 2 CD) zawiera prawie wyłącznie rozbudowane, progresywne kompozycje (wyobraźcie sobie Piece Of Mind z niemal tylko utworami o strukturze To Tame A Land – a tu odlecieli jeszcze bardziej!). Jak dla mnie trochę szkoda, że zespół rezygnuje z prostszych, bardziej piosen­kowych, chwytliwych...

Problem z ocenianiem płyt Iron Maiden polega na tym, że zespół jest żywą legendą. Ma oddanych i wiernych fanów, a często wyznawców. Powiedzieć im, że ich zespół nagrał przeciętną, albo, o zgrozo złą płytę, to jakby powiedzieć Pawłowi Kukizowi, że nie będzie się głosowało za JOW-ami. Na całe szczęście nic się takiego tutaj nie wydarzy, bo Ironi nagrali...

Na ten podwójny album studyjny fani Iron Maiden czekali bite 5 lat. To bardzo długo. Oczywiście zespół w tym okresie nie próżnował, bowiem odbył dwie ogromne trasy koncertowe (około 200 koncertów), które łącznie przyciągnęły ponad sześć milionów ludzi. W licznych wywiadach prasowych muzycy sugerowali, wiele pomysłów, które nosili już w sobie od lat...
