M. Kubicki
18 lat od momentu premiery debiutanckiej płyty zespołu Pearl Jam przyszedł czas na nie jedną, a cztery wersje jej reedycji. W każdej z nich znajdują się dwie płyty ze zremasterowanym, klasycznym materiałem, i dodatkowa - zremiksowana przez Brendana O`Briena. Ta ostatnia zawiera także sześć dodatkowych kompozycji.

W sumie na przytoczenie tego opisywanego już albumu naszło mnie po ostatnim zlocie polskiego fan clubu Pearl Jam, połączonego z prezentacją fanowskiego video nakręconego komórkami uczestników ubiegłorocznego koncertu w Krakowie. Video było przednie i sentymentalne, niczym butelka Barolo opróżniana przez Edka Veddera na koncertowej scenie. Zaś sama zabawa...

Jeśli Nirvana była w swej odmianie grunge’u bliższa punkowi, a Alice In Chains – metalowi, to wczesny Pearl Jam był grupą najbardziej hardrockową. Ale nie był to sabbathowy ciężar, lecz zeppelinowy luz i swoboda. Poza tym, nietrudno znaleźć w ich muzyce odniesienia do najsłynniejszego rockmana pochodzącego właśnie z Seattle, czyli Jimiego Hendrixa....

Album "Ten" powstał przy pomocy dziesięciu rąk, oczu i uszu. Słuchając go możemy z pewnością stwierdzić, że grunge is not dead. Pearl Jam jest obecnie jedynym "brzmieniem z Seattle", które dociera do milionów ludzi na całym świecie (chodzi mi tu o tragiczny koniec Nirvany, rozpad Soundgarden i zawieszenie działalności przez Alice In Chains).
