Od albumu "Heritage" (2011) szwedzki Opeth niemal całkowicie przemodelował swoje brzmienie. Stracił wówczas wielu fanów zapatrzonych w death metalowe oblicze grupy. Nic się jednak nie stało, bo zyskał jeszcze więcej nowych, szczególnie ceniących sobie metalowe granie z progresywnym sznytem

Płyta "Sorceress" to kolejny przystanek na progrockowym szlaku, który Opeth jednoznacznie obrał wraz z wydaniem albumu "Heritage". Kto spodziewał się, że po dołączeniu do stajni wytwórni Nuclear Blast, zespół powróci na dawne, ewidentnie metalowe tory, ten się rozczaruje. Myślę jednak, że przez dwadzieścia lat artystycznych poszukiwań Szwedzi są wciąż...

Opeth. Nie ma chyba zespołu, który ostatnimi laty w szeroko pojętym metalowym środowisku wywoływałby większą konsternację. Przez lata sztokholmski kwintet pod wodzą Mikaela Åkerfeldta był jednym z najznakomitszych, najbardziej oryginalnych przedstawicieli ekstremalnego metalu.

Na długo zanim nastąpiła premiera nowej, dwunastej studyjnej płyty szwedzkiego Opeth , znana była okładka nadchodzącego wydawnictwa. Cudowny, wielobarwny obraz stworzony przez Travisa Smitha, grafika znanego jako twórcę wielu okładek metalowych zespołów m.in. Kinga Diamonda, Death, Avenged Sevenfold, a także nowej progresywnej już klasyki czyli Anathemy...

Oczekiwania przed nową płytą Opeth były naprawdę wysokie. Zespół jest na wznoszącej fali twórczej, cały czas rozbudowując swój styl, warsztat i jakość brzmienia.
