30 maja 1997 roku Jeff Buckley miał rozpocząć sesje nagraniowe do swojej drugiej długogrającej płyty, roboczo zatytułowanej My Sweetheart The Drunk. Nie doczekał tej chwili. Zginął tragicznie dzień wcześniej; został porwany przez nurty Missisipi.
