Od kiedy w 2012 roku Thomas Gabel ujawnił swój transseksualizm i stał się Laurą Jane Grace, zespół Against Me! zauważalnie zmienił styl. Głównym tematem tekstów stało się wykluczenie z powodu odmienności, ale sama muzyka też była już inna. Płyta "Transgender Dysphoria Blues" to pewne odejście od punkowego kanonu na rzecz gładszych brzmień, choć ów album...
