Kiedyś Metallica na koncertach często oznajmiała, że skopią ludziom dupę. Potrafią też to robić z odtwarzacza CD. Ta płyta tak potrafi napakować kopniaków w dupsko, że puchnie aż miło.

Tośka spała na swojej sofie w salonie w pozycji niezobowiązującej, czyli brzuchem do góry, głośno przy okazji pochrapując. Cichutko podszedłem do lodówki i cichutko ja otworzyłem. Przynajmniej tak mi się wydawało, że cichutko. Sunia błyskawicznie zbystrzała i równie szybko była koło mnie.

„Ride The Lighting” tym różni się od „Kill ‘Em All”, że nie brzmi jak jeden długi utwór i nie wszystkie kawałki zagrane są w tempie „Metal Militia” – tłumaczył Lars Ulrich w 1984 roku. My możemy teraz powiedzieć dużo więcej: niezależnie od tego, jak bardzo podoba nam się obecnie pierwszy album Metalliki, to właśnie jej druga płyta zdefiniowała ten zespół...

Zaledwie po roku od debiutu fonograficznego Metallica przedstawiła kolejny materiał, na którym nastąpił zdecydowany już zwrot w stronę grania bardziej precyzyjnego, perfekcyjnego, które zespół w pełni zaprezentuje na dwóch następnych płytach.

Ride the lightning" było przedostatnim dziełem Metalliki, które wpadło w moje żądne czadu łapy. Można więc powiedzieć, że przesłuchałem i pokochałem wszystkie albumy The Four Horsemen, zanim wciągnąłem się w thrashmetalowy świat spod znaku błyskawicy (potem było tylko S&M). Kiedy włożyłem po raz pierwszy "Ride..." do paszczy mojego odtwarzacza cd, umierałem...

Kiedy pierwszy raz słuchałem "Ride the lightning", wydał mi się on albumem nieco bez sensu, nieporównywalnie gorszym od "Master of puppets". Jednak kolejne z moich "ulubionych" piosenek z "Mastera" odpadały, a dwie z "Ride the lightning" ("The call of Ktulu" i "Fade to black") wciąż trwały w mioim sercu. I tak narodziła się moja miłość do tego albumu....
