Wydawało się, że po wydaniu "Twilight of the Gods" nie usłyszymy już więcej o Bathory. Quorthon twierdził, że jest to nieodwołalnie ostatni album grupy. Czas zweryfikował jednak te plany: solowy "Album" lidera Bathory sprawił, że Quorthon znowu zapragnął grać metal, a z kim mógłby to robić lepiej niż ze swoim głównym zespołem?
