Po najgorszym albumie w karierze i jednym z największych heavy metalowych rozczarowań XXI wieku czołowi przedstawiciele tego gatunku, ojcowie chrzestni patosu a zarazem zadziorności, skórzanych ciuchów, melodyjnych refrenów i łatwo wpadających w ucho riffów, przypomnieli sobie nie tyle własny materiał sprzed lat, ale to, jak grać metal przez duże M.

Ganiono nas za to, że za bardzo ekspery­mentowaliśmy. Tym razem chodziło nam więc o klasyczny, czysty Priestowy heavy metal – mówił Glenn Tipton. Na tym polegał jedyny koncept tej płyty – dodawał Richie Faulkner. Chcieliśmy zabrzmieć bardziej surowo – uzupełniał Rob Halford. To trzy znaczące uwagi z pierwszych wywiadów przed premierą albumu Redeemer...

„A po nocy przychodzi dzień, a po burzy spokój” A po „Nostradamusie” – „Redeemer of Souls”. Nie ma co stawiać krzyżyka na zespole, któremu nie wyjdzie jedna płyta. Koszmarnego „Nostradamusa” jakoś przecierpiałem, ale nie spodziewałem, że w przyszłości będzie lepiej, bo przyszłości miało nie  być. Z zespołu dochodziły wieści, że powoli zamykają kramik...

Judas Priest wybierał się już ponoć na zasłużoną muzyczną emeryturę, ale jak widać - nie tylko na przykładzie Angoli - weteranom trudno ze sceny zejść. Dobrze się jednak stało, że klasycy heavy metalu nie zawiesili jeszcze gitarach na kołkach. „Redeemer of Souls“ udowadnia, że starsi panowie czterej wciąż dają radę, a dzielnie wtóruje im nowy nabytek...

Ostatni Mohikanie heavy metalu". Tak o członkach Judas Priest zwykł mawiać Ozzy Osbourne. Mijają lata, dekady, a Rob Halford i spółka co jakiś czas obdarowują nas nowym materiałem. W 2005 roku, po 15 latach, Judas Priest powróciło w klasycznym składzie z albumem "Angel Of Retribution". Była to płyta niezbyt spójna, aczkolwiek posiadająca kilka zabójczych...

Po rozbuchanej do granic przyzwoitości, dwupłytowej i raczej chłodno przyjętej heavy operze "Nostradamus" sprzed sześciu lat, przejściu na emeryturę gitarzysty K.K. Downinga i trwającej blisko rok, (nie do końca) pożegnalnej trasie, przyszłość Judas Priest nie wyglądała zbyt optymistycznie. Czy "Redeemer Of Souls" zdołał zahamować zmierzch samozwańczych...

Na świecie jest tylko kilka zespołów, które odniosły tak ogromny sukces (i wywarły tak olbrzymi wpływ na brzmienie heavy metalu) jak Judas Priest. Ukazujący się dokładnie za miesiąc ich 17. studyjny album 'Redeemer Of Souls' zawiera 13 (a w wersji deluxe aż 18) specjalnie na tę okazję nagranych utworów, które sami muzycy uznają za kolejne podniesienie...
