Nawiązanie tytułu płyty do wielkiego przeboju sprzed 30 lat "Video Killed the Radio Star" grupy The Buggles nie jest przypadkowe. Jego współautorem był Trevor Horn, genialny producent, który otworzył drogę do sławy takim artystom, jak ABC, Frankie Goes To Hollywood i Seal, a z niebytu wyciągnął Yes, Pet Shop Boys i Grace Jones.

Minęły trzy lata od ostatniej płyty "Rudebox" i hołd, jaki Robbie składał dla swojego prywatnego mitu lat 80-tych naprostował się teraz nieco na jego klasyczną twarz, co doprowadza całą dyskografię do zespolenia się.
