Płyta Love over Gold należy do jednej z moich ulubionych płyt. Po pierwsze dlatego, że należy do dzieł jednego z moich ulubionych zespołów, a po drugie, bo zawiera w sobie jedną z najpiękniejszych ballad, jakie kiedykolwiek słyszałem. Mimo, iż to tylko 41 minut muzyki, rozlokowanej w 5 utworach, warta jest opisania. Ale po kolei, najpierw o samej płycie.

Grupa Dire Straits wylansowała przez lata wiele znanych na całym świecie przebojów, takich jak "Brothers In Arms" czy "Money for nothing". I to z tymi utworami kojarzy się przeciętnemu słuchaczowi nazwa zespołu Marka Knopflera. Lecz prawdziwy fan zapytany o ulubioną pozycję w bogatej dyskografii popularnych "Dire'sów" często wymienia właśnie "nieprzebojową"...

Wśród szerokiej publiczności jest chyba trochę tak, że mówimy “Dire Straits” – myślimy “Brothers In Arms”. W pewnym sensie jest to uprawnione. Gigantyczna popularność tego albumu i ciężar ładunku hitów jakie ze sobą przyniósł trochę przytłoczyły poprzednie i późniejsze dokonania Marka Knopflera i jego ludzi (bo tym w istocie zawsze było Dire Straits)....
