Stonerowe brzmienie opiera się najczęściej na ograniczonej postprodukcji, na zachowaniu garażowej surowości i pozostawieniu w spokoju chropowatej natury gitarowych delayów. Prawdopodobnie od lat 90., kiedy z tłoczni wyjechała "Sons of Kyuss" - pierwsza i zarazem najsurowsza płytka zespołu Kyuss, ten element gatunku stał się jego znakiem rozpoznawczym....
