Walijska grupa wypłynęła na fali popularności britpopu, ale zawsze pozostawała w cieniu innych kapel. Serca Brytyjczyków podbijali Oasis, Blur, Suede i Pulp, a piosenki Stereophonics nigdy nie były na tyle przebojowe i na tyle oryginalne, by przebić się na sam szczyt.
