Zaangażowany w wiele projektów muzycznych Jack White założył kolejny zespół. Tym razem jednak nie gra w nim głównie na gitarze. Pozazdrościł swojej siostrze, spółkującej z nim w The White Stripes... perkusji. Na innych instrumentach i z wokalem występuje tu tylko gościnnie. O tym, że w muzycznej naturze Jacka White’a zakorzeniony jest groove, wiadomo nie od dziś. Pierwszy z brzegu przykład – Seven Nation Army z repertuaru The White Stripes. Wystarczyła iskra, zmontowany ad hoc skład, by tego typu skłonności uwidoczniły się na całego.

Nazwa Dead Weather dopiero niedawno pojawiła się na muzycznej scenie. Jest to super-grupa, tworzona przez czworo muzyków - Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Jacka Lawrence'a (The Raconteurs, The Greenhornes), Dean Fertitę (Queens of the Stone Age) i Jacka White'a (The White Stripes). Rzucają się w oczy pistolety. A w uszy bluesowe frazowanie i jazgotliwe gitary. Bronią palną zespół Alison Mosshart i Jacka White’a niby nie epatuje, bo we wkładce do „Horehound” celują do nas dopiero z wewnętrznych okładek…
