Varg Vikernes jakiś czas temu skończył swoją odsiadkę za zabójstwo gitarzysty zespołu Mayhem i znów zabrał się ostro do pracy. A ponieważ jedynym instrumentem, jaki udostępniano mu w więzieniu były proste klawisze, nadeszła wreszcie pora, aby skończyć z ambientem i wrócić do gitarowego black metalu, którego Burzum był de facto prekursorem.
