Dla fanów Brada Mehldaua, przyzwyczajonych do jego wirtuozerskich popisów pianistycznych, album "Finding Gabriel" (jak i niektóre wcześniejsze) będzie sporym zaskoczeniem. Artysta wyraził tu swoje frustracje egzystencjalne i polityczne w formie właściwie art-rockowej, wzbogaconej jedynie elementami jazzu.
