W 1998 r. stoner-rockowa formacja Sleep nagrała swoje magnum-opus: ponad godzinną „suitę”, adekwatnie zatytułowaną Dopesmoker. Materiał ten jednak okazał się zbyt radykalny dla ich ówczesnej wytwórni, co w rezultacie doprowadziło do rozpadu grupy. Gitarzysta, Matt Pike założył zespół High on Fire, natomiast sekcja rytmiczna – Al Cisneros i Chris Hakius...
