Muzycy Sonic Youth po trzydziestu latach działalności postanowili odpocząć od siebie i skupić się na projektach solowych. Trzeci z filarów grupy, gitarzysta i wokalista Lee Ranaldo (pozostałe to Thurston Moore i Kim Gordon), nagrał album z piosenkami, które rodziły się w jego głowie w ciągu dwóch ostatnich lat.
