Nadszedł bardzo ciężki czas dla wszystkich haterów Slipknota. Kto uważał, że to zawsze była i będzie grupka dziewięciu wariatów w maskach grających banalny nu-metal, niech czym prędzej opuści głowę we wstydzie. "All Hope Is Gone" to finalne świadectwo na to, że tych ludzi stać na bardzo wiele.

W porównaniu z powstawaniem poprzedniego albumu zmieniło się niemal wszystko. Producent, miejsce i metoda pracy. Zamiast kształtującego kompozycje Ricka Rubina – nie wtrącający się do niczego poza brzmieniem Dave Fortman. Zamiast willi w Los Angeles – wiejskie studio w pobliżu miejsca zamieszkania. Zamiast organicznego, wspólnego grania – doklejanie...

Ostatnimi laty wiele mówiło się, że formuła zamaskowanych szaleńców ze Slipknot wyczerpała się do cna. Członkowie kapeli zrzucili swe maski, ich twórczość zahaczyła o wiele form ekspresji.
